Fed: Nationals demand PM intervene on country fuel prices

The National Party has warned of a country revolt if fuel prices rise under the GST,
and it's demanding Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD urgently clarify the government's position.

The warning follows Treasurer PETER COSTELLO's refusal yesterday to repeat his election
promise that nobody will pay more for fuel under the GST.
