FED: NRL footballer rape case adjourned

The rape case against Gold Coast rugby league star ANTHONY LAFFRANCHI has been adjourned
in a Sydney court.

The 26-year-old has been excused from appearing in Burwood Local Court today .. on
a charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

LAFFRANCHI has strenuously protested his innocence.

Representing the Titans forward .. solicitor JOHN BYRNES has told Magistrate JANE MOTTLEY
all evidence has been served.

Ms MOTTLEY's continued LAFFRANCHI's bail and excused him from appearing when the case
returns to the same court for mention on September 12.







The charge relates to an incident after premiership celebrations in Sydney last September
.. involving LAFFRANCHI and other members of his then club Wests Tigers.

A 26-year-old woman met the footballers at a Kings Cross nightclub and returned to
one of their apartments.

She claims she was drugged and sexually interfered with.
